PETER LUDWIG (LEWIS) ZAHLER, son of Joseph Zahler and Jeanne Henriette Bonzon, was born November 03, 1829 in New Sewickley Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and died in Seneca township, Kossuth County, Iowa. His first wife was SUSANNA, and they had two children. She was born about October 11, 1827 in Pennsylvania, and died December 20, 1856 in Mill Creek, Mercer, Pennsylvania.
His second wife was SUSAN M. NUNAMAKER. They wed on May 27, 1862 in Pennsylvania. She was born February 1833 in Pennsylvania, and died July 15, 1901 in Swea Township, Kossuth, Iowa.

Mary Jane Zahllar, August 16, 1853 - May 12, 1882.
William M. Zahllar, about 1855 - June 16, 1868. He rests at Rocky Springs Cemetery, Mill
Creek, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
Willis Burton (Nunamaker) Zahllar married Laura May Green.
George William Zahllar married Minerva Alfaretta Dean.
Lizzie L. Zahhlar was born January 17, 1876 in Sandy Lake, Mercer County, Pennsylvania and died November 3, 1879 in Missouri. She rests at Hazelgreen Cemetery in Laclede, Missouri.
Eva M. Zahllar was born August 1884 in Missouri. Apparently, she was adopted by Peter and Susan.

CENSUS:1880 , Liberty Township, Pulaski County, Mo, shows him as a farmer , born in Pa., with his wife ,Susanna and son, George W. and Joseph, age 71
DEATH-PARENTS-BIRTH :Certificate of George W. Zahllar,Pulaski County, Missouri lists parents as Louis Zahllar born in Pa. and Susan Nunamaker, born in Pa.
BIRTH:Family Bible in poss. of Mrs. Fritz S. of Ohio
CENSUS:1900 Swea Tnsp., Kossuth Co, Iowa, ED 145, page 180, line 78 lists him with wife Susan M. and adopted daughter, Eva M.-married 42 years.
From Bonzo Family Researchers: Birth and Baptism data is from St. Paul's German Lutheran and Reformed Church records. St. Paul's is located in Zelienople, Pennsylvania). The Zahler Family Bible shows: "Lewis Zahllar b Nov 3 1829" according to the owner [Living Descendant.] Peter died and was buried in Senaca Township., Kossuth, Iowa.

From Peter's Descendant: DEATH & RELATIONSHIP: Mercer County Cemetery Inscriptions, Vol III, page 110, # 6, Row 13, gives age as 29 years, 2 months, 9 days, and lists her as the wife of Lewis Zahllar.
DEATH: The Zahllar Family Bible in possession of [a Living Descendant] gives the same death date but adds 1 week between month & day. Also, it gives her name as Susanna. She rests at Rocky Springs Cemetery, Mill Creek, Mercer county, Pennsylvania.
SUSAN M. NUNAMAKER:
From Peter's Descendant: DEATH: Certificate Z7596, Piney Township, Pulaski County, Missouri for George W. Zahllar gives her name as Susan Nunamaker.
CENSUS: 1880 Liberty Township, Pulaski county, Missouri gives her age as 48, born in Pennsylvania -- page 24-25, enum dist.14, 15 June. It also lists George W., age 8.
CENSUS: 1900, Swea Township. Kossuth, Iowa, National Archives film T623442, Supervision district 83, Enumeration district 145, page 5, 11 June, dwelling 78, family 79, says: married 32 yrs, mother of 4 children, 2 living, and lists Eva M. as adopted daughter.
MARRIAGE: Family Bible gives marriage date, also have Marriage Certificate.
BURIAL: Letter, 28 March 1968 from a granddaughter says her grandparents Zahllar were buried in Seneca Township, along with her sister, in a country cemetery, out from the town of Seneca, Iowa.near Armstrong.
DEATH: FHL film # 1451892, Kossuth County Death Records , Record 2, states: Susan Zahllar, 68 years old, died 15 July 1901, married, born PA, died Swea Township, Buried Seneca Township.
Willis Nunemaker [can be found] in the household of Susan Nunemaker in 1860 or 1870 census. Could he have been her child, later adopted by Lewis P. Zahllar? Would fit the idea that she had 4 children, 2 living in 1900. She also was married 1867-68, in that case Nunnemaker was probably the surname of Susannah's first husband. She had a child Willis Burton Zahler or Willis Nunnemaker or B.W. Zahler. "B. W. Zahllar was born January 18 1858" - from the owner of the family Bible.
Burial: July 1901, Seneca township, Kossuth, Iowa.
